mPortal

On Device Content Access System

Server

The mPortal server is a service creation environment which allows the operators, content providers to design and deploy any service within a matter of minutes through easy to use click-through GUIs.

Service creation environment is a web based GUI which allows creation, editing and maintenance of services through simple click of a mouse. Operators/content providers can create a service by simply mentioning the name of service and pointining it to a web link, an RSS or flat file. Also an update timer for content can be set. Through these simple steps, a service is created and the same is immediately available on the client side for access.

Categories of services can be defined on the server for providing content/information to the customers. Each category can have multiple services which are then defined using manual or automated content source. The types of content listing can be in form of a list or a window with content display. Also images can be added to content to make it more meaningful.

The feed for content can be an RSS, a flat file or manual entry. Also various other applications can update data into the mPortal Server by simply writing into a file system (txt or XML).

Alerts

Operator can set alerts for new features, services available or as part of the content (automatic alerts for cricket score – wicket, half/full century, record broken etc.). These alerts can also be time bound with a validity of alert. Manual alerts can also be set for events like a new package, promotion, policy or a maintenance downtime or any other annoucement.

Deployment

Deployment of mPortal is fairly simple in any network. There are no changes requried in the network. mPortal server integrates with Content Servers, Delivery platforms over standard APIs.
